Speed Readiness, Webcam and Microphone Check

To ensure you can take an online exam, you will need to evaluate your upload/download speed. 
To begin your speed-readiness test, please click the "GO" button below.

Required Speeds

1 Mbps upload / 1 Mbps download / Jitter should be <50ms (Ping <200ms)

If you are unable to meet the requirements, please try one or more of the following:

  • Reboot your computer
  • Reboot your router and modem
  • Attempt this test on another internet connection
  • If you are on a wireless connection try hardwiring

If you do not see any change, you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider

 

Test Your Webcam For Windows:

  1. Plug-in your external camera.
  2. Select the Windows icon (bottom left of screen or keyboard).
  3. Click All Apps, scroll down and click Camera.
  4. If you're seeing the wrong camera, click the gear icon (Settings) at the top right of the window.
  5. Select your external camera, and the video should appear.

 

Test Your Webcam For Mac:

  1. Go to Photobooth on your Mac.
  2. Plug-in your external camera.
  3. Video should appear.

 

Test Your Microphone For Windows:

  1. Right-click the speaker icon at bottom right corner of your screen (next to date and time).
  2. Select Recording Devices.
  3. Click the microphone that you'll be using (it may be part of your external camera).
  4. If the microphone is working, your voice will make the green bar move.

 

Test Your Microphone For Mac:

  1. Click the Apple icon.
  2. Select System Preferences.
  3. Select Sound.
  4. Select the Input tab.
  5. A list of recording devices will appear. Choose Internal Microphone.
  6. If the microphone is working, your voice will make the blue bar move.
